Las Casas Ranch is tucked away in a suburban area of Thousand Oaks. The compound holds onto the pockets of surprising wilderness that still exist in the otherwise overly developed Southern California landscape. Case in point: the flock of chickens, three black pigs, six rescue dogs and one friendly marmalade cat grazing the backyard.

The scope for Las Casas Ranch is a complete site overhaul and eventual house remodel. The design is tailored to the six family members just as much as it is to their pets. A new pool house, detached ADU, and two pools take advantage of the terraced site. Natural limestone, rustic wood and an assortment of drought tolerant native plants accent the white board and batten clad house. We wanted nothing to seem too precious knowing that a natural patina will settle over the property, the animals will make sure of that.
